Eleven fire engines tackle blaze at Finbows Yard in Bacton

A total of eleven fire engines were sent to Finbows Yard, in Bacton, just before midnight last night to tackle a large blaze.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews from across the county were called at 11.49pm last night, June 22, to an incident at a building, which is believed to be a furniture store.

The building, measuring 30 x 30 metres, was reported as “well alight” by crews on the ground and it was described as being “full of furniture” as well.

Swift action by the fire crews, from Newmarket, Diss, Debenham, Ipswich, Hadleigh, Eye, Stowmarket, Elmswell and Ixworth, ensured that the incident was dealt with by 2am with damping down continuing.

One fire engine has remained on the scene damping down since 3am.

 

Fire crews have been praised for saving three other buildings and two business on the yard and protecting surrounding homes.

A full fire investigation expected to take place later today.
