Female pedestrian killed in accident in Stanstead

A female pedestrian was killed yesterday afternoon, Monday, June 26, following a collision with a car in Stanstead. The woman, in her 80s, died after the accident which took place on the B1066 Lower Street at around 3.15pm.
Emergency services, including the East Anglian Air Ambulance, attended the incident, which involved a grey BMW, and the road remains closed in both directions to allow an investigation to take place.
The female driver of the BMW was assessed at the scene by ambulance staff and had suffered minor injuries.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: “Police can confirm that a woman believed to be in her 80s has sadly died in a road traffic collision in Stanstead, near Long Melford.
“Police were called at 3.15pm on Monday, June 26, to reports of a serious road traffic collision on the B1066 Lower Street, between a grey BMW and a female pedestrian.
“Any witnesses to the collision should contact the serious collision investigation team on 101 quoting reference number 306 of Monday, June 26.
