Viva Santana, The Apex, Saturday, July 22

One of the best tribute acts of its kind thrilled a near packed Apex.

They were dancing on the side of the auditorium as the hugely talented seven-piece band went through their two-hour set of songs which included many of Santana’s best known numbers.

They included “Soul Sacrifice”, “Dance Sister Dance”, “Samba Pa Ti”, “She’s Not There”, “Evil Ways”, “Maria Maria”, “Black Magic Woman”, “Oye Como Va”, “Jingo”, “Victory Is Won” and “Smooth”.

It was a true celebration of the music of Carlos Santana performed by the band which featured inspirational Spanish guitarist Marcos Rodriguez, two percussionists, two keyboard players, drums and bass.

It was a wonderful interpretation of the music of the famous guitarist from the outfit who made their first ever appearance in Bury St Edmunds.

Here’s hoping they’ll be back soon for another gig in the not too distant future.
