A14 Eastbound closed until approximately 7pm

The eastbound carriageway of the A14 at junction 55 will not be reopening until approximately 7pm following a collision earlier today.

Police were called at 1pm to attend a serious collision between two lorries on the eastbound carriageway on the A14, west of Copdock.

Two people have been taken to hospital, one to Addenbrooke’s, in Cambridge, with a head injury, which is not believed to be life threatening or changing, and another person has been taken to Ipswich Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed in both directions for the Air Ambulance to land.

The westbound carriageway of the A14 is now open but the eastbound carriageway remains closed for an investigation to take place. 

It is estimated that the eastbound carriageway of the A14 will remain closed until approximately 7pm this evening.

Any witnesses to the collision should call the Suffolk Police Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101, quoting incident number 183 of today.
