Man in court after assaulting police officers in Bury St Edmunds
A 22 year old man from Bury St Edmunds is due to appear in court today following an assault in the town early yesterday morning.
Officers were called at approximately 1:20am on Thursday, August 10, following reports a man in his 20s has been assaulted outside a licensed premises on St Andrews Street South.
Police attended and identified a male suspect who assaulted two officers as he resisted arrest.
A taser was discharged by police and the suspect was taken to hospital as a precaution. He was later arrested, just before 2am today, and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
The officers sustained cuts and bruises.
Kurtiss Jenkins, 22 years’ old and of no fixed abode in Bury St Edmunds, has been charged with two counts of assault on police in the execution of duty, two counts of assault by beating, two counts of criminal damage and possession of cannabis.
Henry is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today, Friday, August 11.
