Plans unveiled for 250 new homes in Elmswell near the church
Plans have been submitted for 250 new homes on land off School Road behind the church and Almshouses, in Elmswell, and will go in front of Mid Suffolk county councillors next month.
The outline planning application has been put forward by Christchurch Land Estates and Elmswell South Ltd and includes car parking, open space provision with associated infrastructure and access and councillors are being recommended to approve the plans.
But there has already been widespread criticism of the scheme by local residents concerned about the impact on the growing village.
There is also concerns about the traffic impact in the area which will put more pressure onto a locally known bad corner with heavy goods vehicles taking up most of the road.
“Surely Elmswell has taken its fare share of building/houses over the past few years … enough is enough,” said one villager.
People can inspect electronic copies of the application, the plans and other documents submitted with the applicatio at the Planning Department, Mid Suffolk District Council, Council Offices, 131 High Street, Needham Market, IP6 8DL during all reasonable hours until 16:45.
