Arc wins a Green World Environment Award
The Arc Shopping Centre, in Bury St Edmunds, has won a Green World Environment Award in the International campaign to find the world’s greenest countries, companies and communities.
It competed against more than 500 other nominations in the Green World Awards for Environmental Best Practice, for their entry based on LED lamps for external lighting within the shopping centre.
They will be presented their trophy and certificate at a glittering presentation in Dubai, on December 11. As a winner of a national Green Apple award last year and being Green World Ambassador, they were automatically entered into the global awards.
Their winning paper was published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow their example and learn from their achievement.
The awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an international, independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
They are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
Stewart Belcher, operations manager at the Arc, said: “This award is such an honour to receive. We really feel passionately about how we power our centre and this was one small change that has made a big difference to our tenants and our shoppers. We’d like to thank the Green World Awards for this amazing award and we shall proudly display this alongside many of our other brilliant achievements over the past few years.”
