Former West Suffolk College student to style hair at the next Brit Awards

Former West Suffolk College student Sophie Clark will be styling celebrity hair at the next Brit Awards after being chosen as part of a special hairdressing team.

Sophie, from Stowmarket, is one of only 30 hairdressers who are part of the L’Oreal ID Artist Artistic Team, styling models at big shows including the Brits and the BA Hons “White Show” at Central St Martins in London.

Twenty five year old Sophie always wanted to be a hairdresser. She left school at 16 and trained at West Suffolk College then joined Chapmans hairdressers in Stowmarket, coming back to the college for various courses including teacher training.

She auditioned in the summer to be part of the two year L’Oreal programme and was really excited to be chosen to take part, styling models at the big  company shows, with support,  and learning about all the latest trends.

“I am over the moon, all my hard work is paying off and I am getting myself out there,” she said.

Marnie Randall, subject leader in Hairdressing said: ”It’s a great endorsement of our college training and it’s a real tribute to Sophie’s personal drive and ambition.”

Sophie will now be coming into the college to share her skills with the Level 2 hairdressers and help them understand the industry and what opportunities are available.
