Love Gala to raise funds for the Theatre Royal and the Every Heart Matters appeal

The Theatre Royal, in Bury St Edmunds, and My WiSH Charity, who support West Suffolk Hospital, are presenting a gala evening of cabaret, comedy, West End show routines and celebrity guests as a joint fundraiser to support the theatre and the hospital’s new cardiac unit.

All themed around love and affairs of the heart, the evening will feature Alex Jennings (The Lady In The Van, Victoria), Robert Glenister (Hustle, Doctor Who), Yvonne Howard (English National Opera), Sammy Kelly (Young Frankenstein), Matthew Croake (Aladdin), Britt Lenting (Theatre Royal’s Beauty & The Beast 2016) and Frankie Dettori (racing jockey). Further special guests including the compere for the evening are yet to be announced.

As a registered charity the Theatre Royal relies on fundraising and events like these to help fund its entire operation. Over 90% of the theatre’s £1.7m turnover is self-generated.

My WiSH Charity supports all ages and aspects of care at West Suffolk Hospital, enhancing the care of patients, their families and staff. The money raised at this event will support the Every Heart Matters appeal which is aiming to raise £500,000 towards bringing the cardiac diagnostic unit down to join the new cardiac suite coming to the hospital. With close to 15,000 diagnostic tests being performed each year, around 450 of those being on children, this centre really can’t come soon enough.
