Raiders strike at the Museum of East Anglian Life, in Stowmarket

Raiders have struck at the Museum of East Anglian Life, in Stowmarket, stealing various items of historical interest and taking lead off the roof of one of the buildings.

Now Suffolk police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary.

It happened overnight between Sunday and Monday when offender/s removed the padlock from a back gate and forced their entry to a number of buildings stealing various items of historical interest from a number of locations on the premises. This  included the working and domestic life building.

Various wooden doors were damaged and padlocks forcibly removed in the incident. Items stolen included various historical signs and domestic/kitchen implements and porcelain vases amongst other historical artefacts of interest.  Lead roofing was also removed and stolen from the back wall of Abbot’s Hall, causing damage to the roof and brickwork to the property.
