A14 to Close In both directions overnight between Elmswell & Woolpit Junction and Tot Hill
15 DAYS OF TRAFFIC RE-DIRECTION TO RESIDENTIAL PARTS OF ELMSWELL & WETHERDEN
Highways England have announced that carriage way repair work on the A14 between Junction 47 Elmswell/Woolpit and Junction 49 Tot Hill will close the A14 from Monday to Friday 8pm to 6am between February 12 and March 4 2018.
The East bound traffic will be re-directed going off at Junction 47a through to Junction 49 and re-joining the A14 at Tot Hill.
The West bound traffic will be re-directed off at Junction 49 to go through the heart of Wetherden through to Church Road in Elmswell and back onto the a14 at Junction 47. This will no doubt cause great disruption to residential parts of Elmswell, Wetherden and Haughley.
Roads in and around the village already under pressure?
“There will surely be further damage to the roads through the villages. These roads that are already in a sorry state with pot holes caused throughout the winter and by the current level of HGV’s that have to use these routes”, said one disgruntled resident
Minister of Transport, Chris Grayling (pictured below) was made well aware of the traffic problems around the villages when the issues were raised by residents during his visit to Elmswell early last year.
