Comedy about love, life and staying on your bike on stage at the Theatre Royal
A brand new comedy about love, life and staying on your bike, The John Godber Company and Theatre Royal Wakefield present The Scary Bikers, starring the BAFTA Award-winning duo of John Godber and Jane Thornton which will be on stage at the Theatre Royal, in Bury St Edmunds, between Monday and Wednesday, March 19 and 21.
When retired miner Don and former private school teacher Carol meet at a bereavement group, they think they’ve found a new beginning. But a bike ride through Europe will test their budding romance, and they will soon discover that the road to love is rocky when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.
The Scary Bikers is written and directed by John Godber, who also plays the character of Don. John has the distinction of being one of the most performed writers in the English language, his plays are performed around the world and include Bouncers, Up ‘n’ Under, Sweat and Tears and Cramp. He also has an extensive career in writing and directing in TV and film including The Ritz and the BBC Two series Chalkface.
Also starring as Carol is Jane Thornton, who appeared in the original theatre productions of Up ‘n’ Under, Happy Jack, September in the Rain and April in Paris. Film and TV appearances include Coronation Street, Heartbeat, Hollyoaks and My Kingdom for a Horse (opposite Sean Bean). Jane has also written a number of plays including Say It With Flowers, All the Fun of the Fight and I want That Hair.
