Man found dead on railway track near bridge on fringe of Moreton Hall Estate in Bury St Edmunds

Investigations are underway today after a man was found dead on the railway track in Bury St Edmunds.

Suffolk police said they were called at 9.35pm to assist British Transport Police (BTP) with an incident in Orttewell Road near the railway bridge.

A spokesman for BTP said: “BTP officers attended an incident in Orttewell Road, Bury St Edmunds, on February 21 at 9.22pm following reports a person had been struck by a train. Unfortunately a man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident is currently being treated as unexplained.”

A police helicopter was dispatched to the incident.
