Straw stacks valued at between £20,000 and £40,000 destroyed in fire on outskirts of Bury St Edmunds

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident of arson that took place near Bury St Edmunds.

It happened near to Mount Road between Thurston and Bury St Edmunds on Sunday, July 29, when four large stacks containing 260 bales of straw each were set alight by unknown means resulting in the loss of about 460 tonnes in total.

The cost of damage is estimated to be in the region of between £20,000 to £40,000.
