Amateur operatic and dramatic society in final rehearsals for ‘High Society’

The Bury St Edmunds Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society is busy rehearsing for its next musical, which is taking place at the Theatre Royal, in Bury St Edmunds.

They are staging “High Society” following their success of “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” in the spring season between Tuesday and Saturday, October 9 and 13.

Jazz artist C K Dexter Haven is still hung up on his ex-wife and neighbour, socialite Tracy Samantha Lord, however Tracy is engaged to another man.

Matters are complicated even further when a magazine reporter, in town to cover Tracy’s wedding, also winds up falling for the beautiful bride-to-be. As Tracy tries to decide on the ideal husband, each suitor works hard to convince her he is the best choice.

This adaptation of “High Society” is based on the film “The Philadelphia Story” and the 1956 MGM musical film directed by Charles Walters, and features hit songs by the original actors.
