A team of care staff and residents from Hillcroft House, in Stowmarket, and Uvedale Hall, in Needham Market are hosting a charity walk to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Around 25 people from the homes will complete their very own ‘Memory Walk’, starting at Hillcroft House and taking in the local area, on Saturday to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, which works to raise awareness of the condition and funds for vital research.
More than 220,000 people develop dementia every year and both homes provide specialist care to many residents who live with the condition. Uvedale Hall is ranked within the Top 20 of UK care homes in the East of England by independent review site carehome.co.uk.
The walk will leave Hillcroft House at noon on Saturday and will travel all the way to Uvedale Hall, some four miles away, where some of their residents will then join them for a walk around Needham Lakes before heading back to the home. Members of the public are actively encouraged to join the walkers to support the event. Collection buckets will also be carried along the way.
Manager of Hillcroft House Amanda Atkins said: “We’re very much
looking forward to our memory walk. It will be wonderful to work
together as a team with our staff, residents and relatives joining to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Trust. I hope that lots of people will come along to say hello, spur us all on or join us for the walk.
“If anyone would like to join us, we suggest meeting at Hillcroft House at 11:30am ready for our departure at midday. Alternatively, people are welcome to join the walk at any stage.”
