Taylor Wimpey East Anglia has recruited 11 new apprentices covering Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

Undertaking a variety of trades, the apprentices will specialise in brickwork, carpentry, painting and decorating, and plumbing.

The apprentices recently had the chance to meet for the first time during an event held at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia’s regional office in Bury St Edmunds.

During the event, the new recruits had time to collect their protective equipment and tools, supplied by Taylor Wimpey, as well as take part in an induction.

Having all been assigned to a development close by to where they live, the 11 apprentices will work alongside, and be trained by, Taylor Wimpey contractors, with one day per week attending the local college.

They will have a day set aside each term for them to meet up together at the company’s East Anglia head office to work on their National Vocational Qualification portfolio. The apprentices will also be given the opportunity to attend in house training.

Julie Pearce, regional apprentice manager for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, said: “We’re delighted to welcome these 11 apprentices into the Taylor Wimpey team. They’ve worked very hard to get to this point and each of them fully deserve it. I’d like to say a huge congratulations to each apprentice and I am excited to see the work they produce.”

Eden White, a Taylor Wimpey apprentice undertaking carpentry at Charlotte Grove, in Cambourne, said: “It’s been such a journey getting to this point and I’m so excited for all that’s to come. Working in carpentry has been something I’ve wanted for a long time and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn with Taylor Wimpey in such a great environment.”
