To celebrate World Book Day 2019, Bury St Edmunds based Taylor Wimpey East Anglia has donated £1,200 worth of book vouchers to eight schools, close to its housing developments across the region.
Children at Abbots Green Community Primary School in Bury St Edmunds, Hethersett Junior School in Hethersett, Elmswell Community Primary School in Elmswell, Chilton Community Primary School in Stowmarket, The Vine Inter-Church Primary School in Cambourne, Pathfinder C of E Primary School in Northstowe, Framlingham Sir Robert Hitcham C of E Primary School in Framlingham and Attleborough Primary School in Attleborough, will be able to enjoy reading a collection of new books after Taylor Wimpey gifted £150 to each school to mark World Book Day, which took place on Thursday 7th March.
Now in its 22nd year, World Book Day is a celebration of reading and aims to encourage children and young adults to come together to explore the pleasure of books.
Stephanie Redgate, Headteacher at Pathfinder C of E Primary School, said: “Reading is such an important life skill and something that we encourage all of our pupils to do more of. Having new books to get stuck into helps to keep up an enthusiasm for reading and we would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their kind donation.”
Ben Hemmings, headteacher at Chilton Community Primary School, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey on behalf of everyone at our school. Books are a great way to fire up a child’s imagination and to teach them about the world around them. We can’t wait to add to our library and share new stories with each other.”
Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, said: “Books are a fantastic way to feed children’s imaginations. We were delighted to donate book vouchers to eight schools across the region to help them to celebrate World Book Day, and hope that the new books will be enjoyed for years to come.”
The donation of book vouchers to eight schools across East Anglia is one of many ways in which Taylor Wimpey is supporting the local communities in which it builds. To find out more visit www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/media-centre/news
