Fundraisers with a sweet tooth are being urged to slip on their running gear and take part in Donut Dash, a new race in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Donut Dash is an event for everyone, whether they are a keen runner, a donut lover or just want to try something fun and raise funds for the hospice that supports people from West Suffolk and Thetford, living with dying, death and grief.
Participants can either run or walk the one-mile course and when they reach the finishing line they will be treated to a delicious donut and a medal.
The Donut Dash, sponsored by A Plan Insurance, is part of the Suffolk Trail Festival, a three-day family event held between June 14 and 16 at Shimpling Park Farm, a picturesque organic farm between Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury. The festival has races to cater for all running appetites including a 3km and an ultra-24-hour race.
The Donut Dash race takes place on Sunday, June 16, starting at 1.30pm.
St Nicholas Hospice Care, events organiser, Charlie De-Moore said: “If you love donuts and like to run, then why not come along to the festival and take part in the Donut Dash and support for the hospice. There will also be children activities, refreshments, licensed bar and live music, making it a great day out for spectators as well as donut lovers.”
Suffolk Trail Festival, co-organiser, Kelly Pepper, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting the hospice with this fun one-mile donut dash, which happens to land on Father’s Day. We are all looking forward to watching the fun unfold as the runners’ dash to the finishing line and grab their donut.”
