Roundabout is cleared of thick bushes and trees

Gangs of workmen from the Highways Department at Suffolk County Council have been spending most of this week clearing vegetation from a busy roundabout off the A14 which leads towards Elmswell and Woolpit.

They have been clearing trees and bushes from the site and also along part of the A1088 road which heads towards Ixworth.

Moveable traffic stop/start boards have been used by the workmen to control traffic as the side of the road leading towards Elmswell has been cleared with a mechanical cutter mounted on a tractor.

Motorists have been left pleasantly surprised by the clearer views off the roundabout and one motorist said: “They have done a great job clearing the vegetation as the site had got really overgrown with some of the trees hanging over the roadway.”
