Pair released under investigation following alleged rape in Newmarket
Two men arrested on suspicion of rape have been released under investigation.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of Kingston Passage and Sun Lane, in Newmarket, between 3.30am and 4am yesterday, Sunday, December 1.
The victim – a woman aged in her 20s – was approached by two unknown males who then raped her.
Two men – a 21-year-old and a 27-year-old – were arrested on suspicion of rape yesterday and were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where they were questioned and subsequently released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Enquiries are ongoing and the public can expect to see reassurance patrols conducted in the area over the coming days.
