Arc’tic TiPi heads to the Arc Shopping Centre this Christmas

A giant TiPI is to go up at the Arc Shopping Centre on Friday offering people a raft of free events and activities from making decorations to storytelling.

The giant TiPi will be sited on Charter Square for seven days and will host a series of free events and activities for all ages to get involved in.

Abbie Panks, the Arc’s centre manager, said: “The Tipi is a great way for us to host activities in the lead up to Christmas whatever the weather. We have some fantastic sessions lined up where participants of all ages can get creative and make decorations and gifts and try their hand and some new art and craft techniques, we also have storytelling an eco glitter bar and In addition, we are delighted to be holding a Christmas songs silent disco on the 14th which is guaranteed to get everyone into the festive spirit.”

All activities and sessions are free to attend with full details available on the website and social media.

The Tipi is open 10am to 5pm each day (10am to 7pm on Saturday 14th) so whether you want to participate in activities or stop by and put your feet up for a while during Christmas shopping, everyone is welcome.

The closing event in the Tipi on Saturday 21st  will see the St Nicholas Hospice Choir perform

Activities planned so far

Friday, December 13

11am to 1pm – Papercut Lantern workshop: Drop in and make a beautiful paper cut lantern decoration for your home, or as a gift for a loved one.

2pm to 4pm – Eco Cracker Making: Join in and make your own eco Christmas cracker to accompany your Christmas day lunch.

Saturday, December 14

10am to noon – Storytelling: Drop in for a morning of storytelling from two very special guests.

11am to 1pm – Eco Glitter Bar: The luxury eco glitter bar is a great way to add some sparkle ahead of a Christmas Songs Silent Disco.

1pm to 6:30pm – Christmas Silent Disco: Join in dancing the afternoon away to festive Christmas classics.

Sunday, December 15

10am to 11:45am – Mini Christmas Trees: Join in the festive Christmas tree workshop. Children can create a tree table centre with fabulous foliage, baubles and lollipops. All children must be accompanied by an adult. (Adults do not need to book tickets to accompany). Monday, December 16

10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm – Upcycled Mini Wreaths: Do your bit for the planet this Christmas and join in making mini wreath decorations for your home out of recycled materials and saving them from going to landfill.

Wednesday, December 18

11am to 1pm December – Paper Printing Workshop: Drop in and try your hand at paper printing. This session will create beautiful results.

1pm to 5pm – An Introduction to Felting: Come along and create a gift/decoration. Suitable for adults and older children accompanied by an adult

Thursday, December 19

10am and 11am – Eco Cracker Making: Make your own eco Christmas cracker to accompany your Christmas day lunch. This session is suitable for adults and accompanied children aged 3 and up. (One cracker per booked place). Please book a slot at https://bit.ly/2OKhEbL

2pm to 4pm – Personalised Baubles: Drop in and create your own magical, personalised Christmas bauble to take home. Suitable for adults and accompanied children aged 3 plus. One bauble per participant

Friday, December 20
