Meanwhile, Feast of Fiddles (above) are a celebrated collective that combine the colossal talents of some of Britain’s top players in a flourish of fretwork.
Steeleye Span’s brilliant bowman Peter Knight and Fairport’s Chris Leslie join forces with Bully Wee Band’s Ian Cutler and ex Battlefield Band’s Brian McNeill, Tom Leary (Lindisfarne) and Garry Blakeley (Band of Two). Added to the large range of fiddle playing styles is the rock back-line of guitars, keyboards, sax and accordion – all held together by legendary drummer Dave Mattacks, who has played with Fairport, Steeleye and Richard Thompson as well as the likes of Paul McCartney, Elton John and Chris Rea.
Yes, it’s fiddles and yes, there’s folk music but there’s so much more. Each band member brings their own individual style, and together they visit many musical genres in a show with a wide dynamic range.
