A Stowmarket woman is celebrating this week after reaching her target weight of just over 10 stone … losing half her body weight.
Lynn Parker originally weighed in at 20 stone 6lbs but since attending a Slimming World group in the town now weighs an incredible 10 stone 3lbs.
She got to her target of 10 stone 4lbs during the coronavirus outbreak and signing on to a virtual group on the internet.
The 51-year-old grandmother, (pictured before her weight loss) who works for Michael Jay Tailoring doing their client accounts, also achieved the prestigious Club 50 award (losing 50% of her starting weight).
And her group consultant Zia Hull, said: “The transformation in Lynn is incredible. It’s not just Lynn’s appearance that has drastically changed but her health, confidence and zest for life.”
In response to the need to suspend its 19,000 community groups across the UK and Ireland because of the coronavirus pandemic, Slimming World announced the launch of a new temporary “virtual” weight loss service enable members to continue to enjoy – in a virtual environment – the weight loss support, the friendship and community spirit, they find in their local group each week.
Zia, who normally runs seven sessions in Stowmarket, said: “It was a really upsetting time to realise I would be suspending my groups, but to now be able to run my groups from the comfort of member’s homes via Zoom has been priceless as we can continue to support each other through this very challenging time. It’s a service at a discounted rate but also one that we are offering free to any of our NHS workers.”
