Teenagers arrested following fire in Hadleigh

Two teenagers have been arrested after a suspected arson attack in Hadleigh.

Officers were called at about 1.20pm this afternoon (Sunday, June 20) to a report of a fire in a flat on the High Street.

Fire crews attended and the blaze was extinguished by 1.40pm.

Later this afternoon following enquiries, officers arrested a 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old male both on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, burglary and possession of cannabis.

They have been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning where they remain.

No-one was hurt in the fire and an investigation into the precise cause is underway.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the High Street are prior to the fire should contact Ipswich CID, quoting CAD number 187 of 21 June 2020.
