Clare will welcome people back to its monthly market this Saturday with visitors asked to stick with social distancing to combat Covid 19.
The monthly market returns on Market Hill from 8.30am to 1.30pm. It is only the second Clare market this year.
It returned in March following a winter break, but subsequent markets haven’t taken place due to Covid 19.
Additional parking will be in place this Saturday with thanks to The Swan Inn, on High Street. Traders will also be giving away free reusable market bags while stocks last.
The layout will be slightly different with changes made to allow for social distancing. The market itself will also be slightly smaller although many of the regular stalls including fruit and vegetables, cakes, coffee, gin, lamb, pies, olives preserves and flowers, are all due to be trading.
John Griffiths, leader of West Suffolk Council, said: “I am delighted that the market, which brings in visitors to our smallest and lovely town, is returning. Our priority has been to work to reopen Clare’s market in a way that is safe and allows for social distancing. I would like to thank the traders, residents, businesses and visitors to the market both for their patience and their help to achieve this. I also hope everyone will support our local traders and town centre businesses while continuing to look after their safety and the safety of others.”
Traders will be providing contactless payment where possible, will use hand sanitiser and work with customers to ensure safe queuing. Customers are asked to wash their hands as often as they can, and to keep a safe distance.
