Businesses urged to monitor council website on grants during November lockdown

With many businesses about to close due to new national restrictions, West Suffolk Council is urging business owners to keep an eye on its website for information on grants.

The government has announced further support is to be made available to businesses.

West Suffolk Council is urgently requesting more information on how much it is to be awarded to pay out and more details on how the government schemes will work.

The council is unable to start paying out these grants until it has this detail but will update its website at as soon as it has this information.

John Griffiths, Leader of West Suffolk Council, said: “We are conscious that many businesses may be closing from the end of Wednesday until December 2. While the council was successful in reaching the vast majority of eligible businesses last time there was a lockdown, we are aware that these new national restrictions have a much shorter timescale and that  grant eligibility is different.

“That is why we are asking businesses across West Suffolk to keep an eye on our website where we will publish information as soon as we have it, including on eligibility and how they can claim their grant.

“West Suffolk is ready, and very keen, to support our businesses and communities during these new national restrictions. Once again, we recognise the enormous strain people will be under and we are again reallocating staff to prioritise payment of the grants as part of the council’s work.”

As well as grants information, the council webpages will direct business to other advice and support including further Government announcements.
