Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has announced five new appointments to its Suffolk Business Women board from the worlds of shipping, mental health support, insurance, education, and business software.
The five senior business people have pledged to support Suffolk Chamber in its aim to facilitate the contributions of women in business and wider public life to the economic and social prosperity of the county, helping to inspire women to reach their full potential and to encourage gender equality in all areas of Suffolk business.
Stepping on to the board is Sarah Howard MBE, director of Sarand Business Software and the current chair of the British Chambers of Commerce; Peter Wilson, group managing director of Cory Brothers Shipping Agency; Dominique Fell-Clark, head of marketing at PolicyBee LLP; Tom Brown, chief executive of Green Light Trust; and Rachel Bunn, assistant principal – apprenticeships, projects and employer engagement at East Coast College.
The chair of Suffolk Business Women Michelle Pollard, herself a successful business entrepreneur and owner of job advertising agency Spider, said of the appointments: “Championing gender equality is good for business, good for staff, and good for the bottom line. As a board we are committed to support and challenge the local business community to improve opportunities for both men and women in business through our manifesto aims, and by encouraging businesses to sign up to Suffolk Chamber’s Gender Equality Business Pledge. I am excited to welcome our five new members onto the board to help us achieve more diverse places to work and to thrive.”
