It was an “electric” atmosphere at the Abbeygate Cinema, on Sunday night, for the much-anticipated Euro 2020 Final, at Wembley Stadium, between England and Italy.

And despite it “not coming home” it was a great night enjoyed by those sitting in the Premier Screen auditorium with the audience watching the exciting, tense, emotionally and highly charged finale to the tournament which began back on June 11.

The England team had brought together the people of the nation on a roller coaster roll from qualifying top of their group to winning the knock out rounds first against Germany, then Ukraine and the nail-biting semi final victory over Denmark.

Pat Church, who was at the cinema for the evening, meeting and greeting excited fans, said: ”The atmosphere was electric and it was wonderful seeing so many people come together in support of England reaching the final.

“After the past 16 months, it was extremely poignant to see the auditorium come alive and for the community to feel the emotion of togetherness in a shared and safe environment.”

Andrea Holmes, marketing manager for the cinema, said the cinema was “so excited” to offer the opportunity to eager fans wanting to enjoy this longed-for moment.

She added: ‘’Being able to screen the final and bring people together in a safe environment means a lot to us and our team – we’ve missed our customers, an audience, and this was a chance for people to come together during the most challenging times.”
