Police investigating the murder of a man following a stabbing in Bury St Edmunds have now re-arrested two males on suspicion of murder.
It comes after officers were called around 3.55am on Sunday, June 20, to reports of an incident on Winsford Road in the town.
Police located a man who had sustained a serious stab wound. He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, by ambulance but sadly died as a result of his injury.
The deceased has been identified as Neil Charles, aged 47, of Bury St Edmunds. A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Charles died as a result of a single stab wound to the chest.
Two males, one in his 50s, and a teenage male, were initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on Sunday, June 20, and were released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Both males have this morning been re-arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning where they remain.
