There’s a series of Halloween events set to take place at the Abbeygate Cinema, in Bury St Edmunds.
On Thursday, October 28, there is a live performance broadcast from the Sadler’s Wells Peacock Theatre, in London’s West End, of Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical “The Rocky Horror Show”.
Starring “Strictly Come Dancing” winner Ore Odubaas, as Brad, and directed by Christopher Luscombe, it features timeless classics, including “Sweet Transvestite”, “Damn It Janet”, and the pelvic-thrusting, show-stopping “Time Warp”.
The following Saturday, October 30, is Tim Burton’s comic twist on a supernatural horror tale – “Beetlejuice”.
It stars Michael Keaton, Academy Award winner Geena Davis, Alex Baldwin and Winona Ryder and tells of a couple of young ghosts (Baldwin and Davis) trying to haunt the pretentious humans who have moved into their house. They ask for help from a demonic wraith (Keaton) they cannot control in this comic fantasy that mixes the quick and the dead with a laugh and a fright.
There is also a Halloween party that evening from 7pm the cinema’s bar.
And showing the following day on Sunday, October 31, as part of the venue’s Great Night Out promotion, with a special film and meal ticket price which includes a three-course meal, is Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs”.
