2022 Careeriosity programme to take place in Sudbury later this month

This month, sees the start of the 2022 Careeriosity programme, with students in and around Sudbury being invited to find out what career opportunities are available in the technology and film sectors at two exciting events.

The free events, which are run by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils and which take place on Thursday and Wednesday, April 14 and 20, are open to people aged 13 to 24 and are being led by industry experts from Innovation Labs and Screen Suffolk who will be demonstrating the huge variety of career opportunities available.

Innovation Labs will be exploring the worlds of AI, VR and gamification, outlining some of the key skills required in this sector and providing an interactive demonstration of some of the latest innovative technologies.

Peter Brady, from Innovation Labs, commented: “We’re aiming to provide innovation, inspiration and illumination of emerging technologies, whilst outlining skills, career pathways and entrepreneurship opportunities emanating from this.

“The opportunities for careers in innovation and technology are huge but many young people are unaware of how to get their foot on the ladder. I hope anyone curious about this growing sector will come along and find out what is available to them once they finish full time education.”

For students with an interest in the film industry, Screen Suffolk will be demonstrating how film and television production is growing across the county, bringing with it a vast range of interesting roles from directors to location scouts and finance to make up artists.

Jim Horsfield, from. Screen Suffolk, said: “There is always a buzz about working in the film and television industry but many people don’t realise quite how many different jobs there are. Our event will showcase everything from camera work to set design and how to get into careers in this exciting sector.”

The events are part of Careeriosity, a skills and education initiative led by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, which aims to inform young people about the fantastic and varied range of jobs available in Suffolk and how to access them. The first Careeriosity event took place in Stowmarket over the October 2021 half term and welcomed over 100 visitors to 9 events.

Both the Innovation Labs and Screen Suffolk events are free to attend but places must be booked in advance by visitingwww.careeriosity.co.uk

The April 14 event takes place between 10am and noon, at Innovation Lab, Sudbury (Borehamgate) and the April 20, at noon, at the Quay Theatre, Sudbury.
