A cheque for £1,565 has been presented to the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) from former chairman of Mid Suffolk District Council Paul Ekpenyong.

The money has come from a series of fundraising events during his term office including a summer BBQ, a Civic Service, as well as a dedicated JustGiving page to raise individual donations.

EACH offers psychological, physical, emotional, social, or spiritual support to families with children and young people with life-threatening conditions.

Councillor Ekpenyong said: “I am delighted to be able to support the incredible work that EACH does in this way. Having had first-hand experience of the service and support they provide. It is a privilege to be able to raise funds for and raise awareness of the fantastic organisation.

“Raising funds during my term has been challenging, but I am thankful for the communities’ support and contributions to my fundraising efforts. “

Ali Lansdowne, EACH community fundraiser for Suffolk and East Essex, said: “We were thrilled to be selected as the chairman’s chosen charity, last year.

“We cannot do what we do without the public’s support and provide our specialist medical and emotional support completely free of charge. We rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income and the more funds we have, the bigger difference we can make to local children and families. Any support in terms of raising funds and awareness of who we are and the work we do to support our community is therefore hugely appreciated.

“Our thanks to the chairman and his supporters for this generous donation.”
