Taylor Wimpey brings ice cream magic to Sudbury school’s Jubilee party

House builder Taylor Wimpey gave Sudbury pupils a royal suprise by sending an ice cream van to their Jubilee picnic.

St Gregory CEVC Primary School held the event for all 210 pupils on Thursday 26th May 2022, with games, decorations and music. As well as giving the children a fun afternoon of celebration, the school wanted to emphasise the importance of community and learning about British history.

Taylor Wimpey is building new homes at Maidenfields, the first phase of the Chilton Woods development nearby, and offered to buy an ice cream for every child to help make it an extra special day.

The children were absolutely thrilled when headteacher Daniel Woodrow used his ‘headteacher magic’ to summon the ice cream van onto the school field.

Daniel said: “The ice cream van has been a huge hit and we are incredibly grateful to Taylor Wimpey for organising it.

“We were having a great party, with the children enjoying the games and music and getting into the Jubilee spirit. When I gathered them together and used my ‘headteacher magic’ to summon the ice cream van their reaction was priceless. It absolutely made our day.”

“We were happy to help St Gregory CEVC Primary School make it an extra special day for their pupils and it was heartwarming to see the children’s reaction when the ice cream van arrived.”
