Man dies after falling from high bridge in Haverhill
A man has died after falling from a high bridge in Haverhill.
Police officers initially received a report at just after 8pm yesterday, Monday, June 6, relating to a concern for safety for a male sat on a high wall that crosses a busy road at Ehringshausen Way in the town.
Police attended and spoke to the individual who then departed the scene.
Later the same evening at just before 9.30pm police received a call from the ambulance service reporting a male, aged in his late 40s, had sustained serious injuries having fallen from a high bridge in the Hamlet Road area.
Police attended and a cordon was put in place.
The male, confirmed as the same person involved in the first incident, was pronounced dead a short while later.
The death is being treated as unexplained and the coroner will be informed in due course.
As is a matter of course after a death following initial police contact the Independent Office of Police Conduct have been informed.
Police said today, Tuesday, June 7, that they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
