Man arrested following attempted armed robbery in Sudbury
A man has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Sudbury.
It follows an incident in the town this afternoon (Wednesday, June 8) at about 3.15pm when a male walked into a bookmakers on Borehamgate making demands for money with a weapon described as a firearm. He then left the scene.
A short while later a male, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. The weapon was recovered at the time of his arrest. He has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he remains.
The incident is being linked to another incident today on King Street, in Sudbury, where a male approached a woman asking for a cigarette, she then refused and then he threatened her with what was described as a handgun and then he left the scene. No-one was hurt in either incident and no money was taken.
Officers are not looking for anyone else in relation to these incidents.
