Man due in court in connection with attempted armed robbery in Sudbury
A man has been charged with attempted robbery following an incident in Sudbury.
It follows an incident in the town Wednesday, June 8, at about 3.15pm, when a male walked into a bookmakers on Borehamgate making demands for money with a weapon described as a firearm. He then left the scene.
The incident was linked to another on King Street, in Sudbury, where a male approached a woman asking for a cigarette, she then refused and then he threatened her with what was described as a handgun and then he left the scene. No-one was hurt in either incident and no money was taken.
Mohamad Al Sarnawi, 31, of Salmon Lane, London, was charged with attempted robbery of a bookmakers, possession an imitation firearm with intent to cause unlawful violence, one count of fraud and a fourth charge of possession of an imitation firearm, with intent to commit robbery.
He was remanded to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, June 10)
