Male motorist dies following crash on A14 near Woolpit

A 39-year-old man has died following a serious road traffic collision on the A14 westbound near Woolpit.

Police were called at just after 1.30am yesterday morning, Tuesday, June 14, to reports of a two-vehicle collision between Haughley and Woolpit, involving a white Audi A3 and a lorry parked in a layby.

Ambulance and Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews were also in attendance and the driver of the car was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where he later sadly died.

The A14 westbound was closed at the Beacon Hill junction with the A140 for several hours, reopening at around 9.30am.

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses and ask that any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle to review the footage.
