Motorcyclist killed in accident in Brent Eleigh named by police

The family of a motorcyclist who was killed in an accident at Brent Eleigh have paid a poignant tribute to the 52-year-old describing him as “a life loving, hardworking, funny, family man.”

Suffolk police yesterday (Friday, June 17) named the dead man as Darren Russell, (pictured above) who lived in Sudbury.

Officers were called at 8.20am on Sunday, Jun 12, to reports of a single-vehicle collision that took place between Brent Eleigh and Monks Eleigh, involving a red Ducati motorcycle

Paramedics also attended the collision, but the driver of the motorcycle was sadly declared deceased at the scene.

Pending formal coroner’s inquest proceedings, police have provisionally identified the deceased as Mr Russell and his family asked Suffolk Police to issue the following tribute on their behalf.

“Darren Russell, 52, from Sudbury, lost his life in a tragic accident on Sunday 12 June.

“Our lives are shattered. A beloved husband, stepfather/father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandad, and much-loved friend to many.

“A life loving, hardworking, funny, family man, he enjoyed every second of his life whilst enriching the lives of those who loved him. Over the years he made many friends both in Sudbury and during his time in the Army, and boxing, playing football, and golf.

“He will be so terribly missed and leaves behind many broken hearts, but he also leaves behind a family who are united in their time of grief.

“He would have liked that.”

Police are still appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward and contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting reference 37/36162/22
