Man stabbed during incident at town centre car park

A man has been stabbed during an incident at the Parkway multi-storey car park in Bury St Edmunds, this afternoon, Monday, July 4.

The incident has promoted an investigation by Suffolk police after officers were called to the scene at 2.29pm.

The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to the town’s West Suffolk Hospital by ambulance.

There is currently a police cordon in place at the car park and the car park is closed while officers carry out their enquiries.

Officers understand the challenges people will face being unable to access their vehicles and are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Later in the day a 27-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous body harm and was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Detective do not believe the incident to be a random attack and understand the parties involved are known to each other.
