Motorsports fans will find themselves in pole position for a day of free family entertainment at the Our Bury St Edmunds Motorsport East event this coming Sunday, July 24.

The town centre will play host to a show of cars and sporting vehicles with more exhibits than last year and all curated by well-known local rally cross commentator and motorsport journalist Arthur Debenham.

Also in the driving seat is Laura Cooledge – a Women in Motorsport ambassador and club development officer at Anglia Motor Sport Club.

Motorsport East will feature around 65 competition vehicles and local businesses have been quick off the grid to join in.

Krazy Horse – well known to many motorbike enthusiasts – will be displaying a selection of their Morgan and Caterham sports cars. Insurance company A-Plan have sourced a Ferrari and Rolls Royce for visitors to admire.

And there will be numerous places to take a pit stop around the town with Nethergate brewery and Papaki’s Deli among the stall holders, as well as the town centre businesses who’ll be open as usual.

Chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds Mark Cordell, said:  “Motorsport East is a chance to bring the family to a fun and free day out. Cornhill and Buttermarket will be transformed into a celebration of cars and motorsports but there will be lots more around the town centre to see and do.

“If you’ve dreamed of living life in the fast lane then this is the event for you. And when you’re ready to take your foot off the gas there’ll be a choice of our many hospitality businesses in the town centre to welcome you.”

In addition to the sport vehicles and cherished collectors’ cars on show, budding Lewis Hamiltons can test their skills in a racing car simulator which will be in Charter Square – there will be gift card prizes for the fastest three in each of two age groups.

For those who prefer a slower pace children’s bumper cars and other fairground rides will be on offer too. The attractions at the Arc Shopping Centre will be free of charge.

Motorsport East will support East Anglian Air Ambulance. Admission to the event is free – it starts at 10am with the chequered flag coming down at 4pm.  For more information visit www.ourburystedmunds.com
