Collision between motorcyclist and van closes road in Hadleigh

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Hadleigh.

Officers were called at 5.09pm last night, Wednesday, August 24, to reports of a head on collision between a red Volkswagen Caddy van and a black Suzuki motorcycle in Pond Hall Road.

The ambulance service attended the scene and a road closure was put in place between the junction with Clay Hill, Hintlesham, and Clay Lane. The road has since reopened just after midnight this morning (August 25).

The motorcyclist has sustained potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, for treatment. The driver of the van has sustained minor injuries.

A 57-year-old man from was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving with excess drugs and careless driving. He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision and are also appealing for anyone who was driving along Pond Hall Road in Hadleigh yesterday evening – in either direction – just prior to the incident and who has a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for anything that may be of assistance.
