Woman sexually assaulted in the early hours in Stowmarket

Police are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault against a woman in Stowmarket.

The incident took place on Ipswich Road in the early hours of Sunday, June 4, at around 1.15am.

The victim had been walking away from Stowmarket town centre towards Combs Ford through Lockington Road when she was accosted by an unknown male on Ipswich Road where the suspect reportedly sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.

Enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident continue and officers are reviewing available CCTV footage from the area to assist.

The victim is being supported by specially trained officers.

Local officers are conducting patrols in the area and anyone with any concerns are encouraged to speak with them.

Officers investigating the assault are particularly keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or who was in the location at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious.
