The Jobs and Skills Fair will be back tomorrow (Tuesday, June 13) at Newmarket Memorial Hall from 10am to 12.30pm.

This is the perfect opportunity for local people looking for a job, a change of career or wanting to enhance their skill set. Businesses who wish to invest in their current workforce will be able to liaise with training providers and discover the opportunities available.

There will be a range of exhibitors from sectors including leisure, hospitality, emergency response and retail. All the employers attending will have vacancies that they are looking to fill – so this is a chance to network and find out what is on offer.

For those wanting to increase their skill set, they will be able to chat to providers including Menta, National Citizens Service and Employ-Ability who have different training options available.

The charity Kickstart Mopeds are going to be present and will offer information about their alternative transport service. Active across Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Rutland, Kickstart Mopeds assists individuals with a transport need by providing mopeds to access education and employment.

Suffolk County Council will also have stalls covering their Apprenticeship Suffolk, Multiply and Youth Pledge for Employers schemes. These target individuals looking for training, plus employers developing employment and training opportunities.

Indy Wijenayaka, cabinet member for Growth at West Suffolk Council, said: “After the success of previous events I am thrilled that the fair is back in Newmarket. Having bespoke fairs in individual towns enables us to bring together local employers and organisations from the area and target specific needs. By working with the Department for Work and Pensions, we can support skills development and promote employment opportunities available to the workforce and businesses.”

Anyone who is unable to attend on the day can still find out how we can help by contacting skills@westsuffolk.gov.uk
