The Music of Chaka Khan coming to The Apex next month

Chaka – The Music of Chaka Khan is an exhilarating music show packed with the irresistible funk, soul, pop and dance music of Chaka Khan and it is coming to The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, next month.

Sulene Fleming (pictured above) from The Brand New Heavies captures the essence of Chaka, while leading a full live band through a two-hour show, packed with diva greats and anthemic dance floor anthems, such as “I’m Every Woman”, “Ain’t Nobody”, “I Feel For You” and many more.

Known as the “Queen of Funk”, Chaka Khan has won 10 Grammy awards and recently celebrated 50 years in music.

She started out in the early 1970s as lead vocalist of the funk band Rufus, with whom she recorded the notable hits “Tell Me Something Good”, “Sweet Thing”, and the platinum certified “Ain’t Nobody”.

Her debut solo album featured the number-one R&B hit “I’m Every Woman” (which became a pop hit for Whitney Houston).

Khan scored another R&B chart hit with “What Cha’ Gonna Do for Me”, before topping the UK charts with her 1984 cover of Prince’s “I Feel for You”.

Chaka was ranked at number 17 in VH1’s original list of the “100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll”.

She has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times as a solo artist and four times as a member of Rufus.
