Golfing enthusiasts gathered today (Thursday, April 18) at Thetford Golf Club for an annual charity event.
A total of 212 people playing in 53 teams of four all teed off in the Theatre Royal Charity Golf Day.
The first ones to strike their ball down the first tee at 7.30am were John Sullivan, Peter Noble, John Hudson and Peter Bradstock with the final four at 2.42pm consisting of Paul Sherwood, Gavin Lugo, Paul Booth and David Burrows.
Among those take part were Ipswich Town Football Club legends Bryan Hamilton and Mick Lambert, both who took part in last year’s event.
Playing with Bryan were Phil Beer, Alan Hull and Richard Goodenough, while partnering Mick were Christopher Green, Karl Pickering and Nick Wakefield.
It is hoped the day will help to raise up to £5,000 for the theatre which also included a massive raffle of prizes (pictured above) donated by Greene King which included beer, wines, spirits and chocolates.
Pianist Gill Game played piano as the early golfers arrived with all those taking part receiving a bacon roll along with fish, chips and peas once back in the clubhouse (pictured above).
Adding to the funds were three holes sponsored for £450 each by Taylor Wimpey, Ashton Legal and Chassis Cabs.
Golfers came from all over Suffolk and Essex including six teams from Clacton, along with players from Braintree and Hertfordshire.
It was organised jointly by the Theatre Royal and Ian Duncan, from village online website suffolkvillage.info
He said: “It’s been a great day and so far the weather has been fantastic. Nice and dry and it’s wonderful to have so many people supporting the event.”
