Dog walker assaulted on meadow in Sudbury

A dog walker has been assaulted during an incident in Sudbury.

It took place at 7.15pm on Tuesday, July 30, in Friars Meadow.

The victim, aged in his 60s, was walking his dog and was leaving Friars Meadow when he was attacked by the suspect who punched him to the head several times.

The victim was knocked to the floor and lost consciousness for a while. He received hospital treatment but has since been released from hospital.

Members of the public came to his aid and administered first aid and took care of the victim’s dog.

The suspect is described as a white male, of skinny build, about 5ft 10ins tall, with short dark cropped hair, facial hair. He was wearing black jeans, a black t-shirt and had tattoos on arms. He had with him a Mastiff cross dog that had a silver, dark mottled coat and infected or damaged eye.

Witnesses have stated that the male suspect let his dog run freely in the meadow, scaring dog walkers and their dogs alike.

Police would like to thank the public for their help at the scene and providing first aid to victim prior to police and ambulance arrival.
