30-year-old man charged with grevious bodily harm following incident in Newmarket
A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in Newmarket.
Police were called at 5.15pm on Monday, September 16, to reports that a man had been attacked in the doorway of a premises in High Street.
The victim – a man aged in his 50s – sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.
A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident later the same day and after being questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, was subsequently charged as follows:
Daniel Mitson, of Chandlers Court, Burwell, charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He was also charged with two further offences: possession of a knife in a public place (in respect of items seized during subsequent searches); and criminal damage to police handcuffs.
Mitson appeared before magistrates in Ipswich this morning, Wednesday, September 18, where he was remanded in custody pending a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court (pictured above) on Wednesday, October 16.
