RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch launches tearjerker Christmas film

The RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch has launched its new Christmas film highlighting the vital services the charity can offer to people struggling to look after their pets – and it’s a real tearjerker!

The poignant seasonal movie was made with the generous help of Offset Films and tells the story of a lady who is struggling to feed her pet – due to the cost of living crisis (see photo above).

But she is helped by the team at the RSPCA’s Suffolk Central Branch – making Christmas a time of celebration for her rather than sadness.

The film stars branch volunteers Helen Stevens and Tim Moll but the lead performance comes from Sketty the dog (pictured above).

The film shines a spotlight on local services helping families in Suffolk who, for whatever the circumstances, may be struggling to look after their pet – especially during this festive period.

Lorna Goodwin, the corporate and community fundraiser at the branch, said: “We are so extremely proud of our film and so grateful to everyone who has helped make this possible – especially our friends at Offset Films.

“We really wanted the film to show that RSPCA Suffolk Central doesn’t just focus on the rehoming and rehabilitation of animals, but we work with the local community to help keep pets with their loving families and avoid the heartbreak of anyone having to give up an animal they love.

“The response to our Christmas film has already been phenomenal – and we hope as many people across the county and beyond watch it. It really helps highlight our vital work in the community.

“The Palace in Felixstowe, a local independent cinema, has been running the film before their cinema screenings and will continue to do so until the New Year – so it’s been amazing to see Sketty and cast on the big screen too.”

RSPCA Suffolk Central offers a host of services to eligible local pet owners – including subsidised vet support, medications and affordable neutering and microchipping.

“This year we are projected to provide nearly £40,000 of financial help across Suffolk through our welfare vouchers scheme and help 3,000 plus animals in the community with visits to our welfare clinics, financial aid or neutering support.

“Our Welfare Clinics support low-income families in getting a vet consultation from as little as £15 – and we can provide subsidised medications.

“If your pet needs on-going treatment we can also provide financial help towards this if you meet our eligibility criteria and live in the local community.

“We can also provide help to get your pet neutered and offer pop-up donation-only microchipping clinics and pop-up pet food banks that offer free food to those in need.”

Last year the branch rehomed 300 animals and they currently have 89 animals in their care including on site and in foster homes
