Park run events return to pre-pandemic levels across West Suffolk

Figures just out reveal that the number of participants and volunteers at weekly park run events have returned to pre-pandemic levels.

This includes venues and parks which West Suffolk Council own and manage, including, the Bury St Edmunds park run in Nowton Park (pictured above).

According to the figures released by Suffolk County Council, the park topped the attendance charts with 462 people completing the festive 5k on Christmas Day.

Park run events are the perfect opportunity to kick start the new year with weekly physical activity, where participants are welcome to walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.

Suffolk County Council has provided funding to set up 95 per cent of park runs across the county.

West Suffolk Council has worked with local park run organisations at its venues to help their continued success.

Across Suffolk, an average of 2,980 people took part each week in 2024, with a further 2,218 individuals volunteering at one or more events throughout the year.

The park run events in West Suffolk are at:

  • Brandon Country Park;
  • Bury St Edmunds, in Nowton Park;
  • Mildenhall Hub;
